gasleser.pulse Overview
Welcome to the gasleser.pulse documentation! Here you'll find all the information you need to install, configure, and get the most out of your gasleser.pulse.
What is the gasleser.pulse?
The gasleser.pulse makes your gas meter smart — without any modification to the meter itself and without touching the gas installation.
Conventional gas meters don't provide a digital value. The gasleser.pulse uses an integrated precision chip to count the rotations of the metallic impulse disc in your gas meter. Every rotation is one pulse, and every pulse corresponds to a fixed gas volume (usually 0.01 m³). From those pulses the device derives your consumption and sends it to the stromleser app in real time.
How it Works
- The device is attached to the meter interface using the supplied metal plate.
- The sensor sits directly above the rotating metallic impulse disc.
- Each rotation of the disc is registered as one pulse.
- Pulses are multiplied by the configured pulse value and added to the meter reading you entered during setup.
- The result is shown live in the app, and optionally in Home Assistant.
If you unplug the device, the counting may be reset. In this case, you'll need to recalibrate the current gas meter reading in the app so that the gasleser.pulse can continue counting from that point.
Why is it reset? The stored meter reading would become inaccurate over time if the device is off for an extended period. To ensure that measurement always remains precise, the counter is therefore reset upon restart.
Key Features
- Impulse-disc counting: Integrated precision chip counts the metallic impulse disc exactly
- Real-time consumption: Current gas usage and history as charts in the app
- Plug and play: Installation is done in minutes, no technical knowledge and no tools on the gas line
- Secure mounting: Attaches to the meter interface with the included metal plate
- Smart home ready: Home Assistant integration and a local API
- Offline capable: Can be operated fully locally without any cloud connection
