Setup Overview

After you've physically installed your stromleser.one and connected it to the app, it's time for configuration. Here you'll learn which steps are still necessary.

Why is Configuration Important?​

Configuration ensures that:

  • ✅ Data is correctly read from your meter
  • ✅ Your tariff structure is taken into account
  • ✅ Costs can be calculated correctly
  • ✅ All relevant information is displayed in the app

Overview of Configuration Steps​

The configuration of your stromleser.one consists of these steps:

1. Set Meter Parameters​

In the first step, you provide basic information about your electricity meter:

  • Meter number (optional, but recommended)
  • Meter type/manufacturer
  • Special features (e.g., bidirectional meter for PV)

2. Set Tariff Parameters​

Here you configure how much you pay for your electricity:

  • Basic monthly charge
  • Energy price per kWh
  • High/low tariffs (if applicable)
  • Feed-in compensation (for PV systems)

Finally, you check if everything is working correctly:

  • First data is being read
  • Check LED status

How Long Does Configuration Take?​

The entire configuration usually takes 5-10 minutes. You should have the following information ready:

  • 📄 Your electricity bill (for tariff information)
  • 🔢 Meter number (found on the meter)
  • 💶 Current electricity prices (basic and energy charges)
Tip

If you don't have your electricity bill at hand, you can adjust the tariff parameters later!

Can I Change Settings Later?​

Yes, absolutely! All settings can be changed at any time in the app:

  1. Open the stromleser app
  2. Select your device
  3. Go to settings
  4. Adjust the desired parameters

Do I Need Technical Knowledge?​

No! The configuration is deliberately kept simple:

  • All settings are in understandable language
  • Help texts explain each parameter
  • Default settings work for most cases

What If I Don't Have All Information?​

No problem! You can:

  • Start with default values
  • Skip the tariff configuration (only consumption will be displayed)
  • Add the values later when you have them at hand

The basic function (consumption measurement) works even without complete configuration.
