- Alerts: Periods with active leak detection alerts
Interpreting Your Data
Identifying Patterns
Look for:
- Regular peaks: Daily routines (morning showers, evening cooking)
- Unusual spikes: Potential leaks or forgotten taps
- Baseline consumption: Continuous low-level usage (may indicate leak)
- Seasonal changes: Higher usage in summer (gardening, pools)
Consumption Comparisons
The app may show:
- Current vs previous period: Compare this week to last week
- Year-over-year: Compare this month to same month last year
- Average baseline: Your typical daily consumption
Cost Visualization
If water tariffs are configured, charts may also display:
- Cost per period: Estimated water bill
- Cost trends: How expenses change over time
- Budget indicators: Visual markers for budget thresholds
See Tariff Setup for configuring water pricing.
Analyzing Water Usage
Normal Usage Patterns
Typical household patterns include:
- Morning peak (6-9 AM): Showers, breakfast
- Midday low: Minimal usage during work/school hours
- Evening peak (6-9 PM): Cooking, cleaning, bathing
- Night baseline: Should be near zero (if not, check for leaks)
Detecting Anomalies
Watch for:
- Constant baseline consumption: Could indicate running toilet or leak
- Unexpected spikes: Check for:
- Guests visiting
- Laundry/dishwasher cycles
- Garden watering
- Potential leaks
- Sudden increase in average: May signal developing problem
Exporting Chart Data
You can export your consumption data for:
- Detailed analysis in spreadsheet software
- Sharing with utility companies
- Personal record-keeping
- Budget planning
(Export options vary by app version)
Tips for Better Tracking
- Check regularly: Review charts weekly to spot issues early
- Set baselines: Understand your normal consumption levels
- Note events: Record unusual consumption causes (guests, repairs)
- Compare periods: Look for changes month-to-month or year-to-year
- Use alerts: Enable leak detection to catch problems automatically
See Leak Detection for automatic monitoring.
