Water Parameters
Water parameters define how your wasserleser measures and displays water consumption. These settings ensure accurate readings based on your specific water meter type.
Accessing Water Parameters
- Open the stromleser app
- Select your wasserleser device
- Tap the gear icon (⚙️) in the top right
- Navigate to Water Parameters or Device Settings
Key Parameters
Meter Reading Unit
Defines the unit of measurement for your water meter:
- Cubic meters (m³): Standard unit for most water meters
- Liters (L): Alternative display unit
- Gallons: For regions using imperial units
The app automatically converts between units for display purposes.
Pulse Rate
The pulse rate defines how many rotations of the metal disc equal a specific volume:
- Typically pre-configured based on meter type
- Common values: 1 rotation = 1 liter, or 1 rotation = 10 liters
- Usually set automatically during initial calibration
Only adjust if:
- You know your meter's specific pulse rate
- Readings are consistently inaccurate
- Instructed by support
Meter Type/Size
Some water meters have different specifications based on:
- Diameter: DN15, DN20, DN25, etc.
- Flow capacity: Maximum flow rate
- Manufacturer: Different brands may have different pulse rates
This information helps the app optimize detection algorithms.
Adjusting Parameters
When to Adjust
Adjust water parameters if:
- Initial setup values were incorrect
- Readings don't match your physical meter
- You've replaced your water meter
- You want to change display units
How to Adjust
- Access water parameters in device settings
- Tap the parameter you want to change
- Enter the new value
- Save changes
- Verify accuracy by comparing to physical meter
Changing pulse rate or meter type can significantly affect reading accuracy. Only change these if you're certain of the correct values.
Device Name
You can customize your wasserleser's display name:
- Go to device settings
- Tap Device Name
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Main Water Meter", "Kitchen Supply")
- Save changes
This is especially useful if you have multiple wasserleser devices.
Advanced Parameters
Detection Sensitivity
Some app versions allow adjusting sensor sensitivity:
- High sensitivity: Detects even slight disc movements (may cause false readings)
- Normal sensitivity: Balanced detection (recommended)
- Low sensitivity: Only detects clear rotations (may miss some readings)
Only adjust if experiencing detection issues.
Measurement Interval
Defines how frequently readings are recorded:
- Real-time: Continuous monitoring (higher battery usage for battery models)
- 1 minute: Standard interval
- 5 minutes: Reduced monitoring (lower power consumption)
The wasserleser uses USB power, so real-time monitoring is typically enabled.
Parameter Validation
After adjusting parameters:
- Note your physical meter reading
- Use a known amount of water (10-20 liters)
- Compare app reading to actual usage
- Adjust if needed
Resetting Parameters
If you need to reset all parameters to defaults:
- Access device settings
- Select Reset Parameters or Factory Reset
- Re-enter your water meter information
- Recalibrate the device
See LED Indicators for full reset instructions.
Troubleshooting
Readings are too high/low:
- Check pulse rate setting
- Verify meter type is correct
- Ensure initial reading was set accurately
Units display incorrectly:
- Change the meter reading unit in settings
- Restart the app
Can't save parameter changes:
- Ensure device is online
- Check WiFi connection
- Restart app and try again
